Every privately-owned parcel of land, as well as certain property that is not real estate, must be identified and assessed with a value for tax purposes. This is the job of the Office of the
Assessor. The elected head of this department is
Assessor Dale Flippin.
The
Assessor site includes information on many tax exemption programs for seniors, the disabled, veterans, builders, homeowners and others. Save money every year by checking this section!
The County has an appeal procedure for anyone who feels their property has not been assessed fairly. The Board of Supervisors sits as the
Assessment Appeals Board.
The
Assessor's Office does not collect taxes. For information on tax collection, visit the County Treasurer-Tax Collector Website.
