Pet Licensing

www.Dial211.com link

In addition to keeping yourself in compliance with County Ordinances and State Laws, a license can be your pet's ticket home if he becomes lost.

Nevada County Dog Licenses can be purchased either by coming to the Animal Shelter in person or by mail. Call the Animal Shelter at 273-2179 for a Dog License Application Form.

Whether you come to the shelter at 14647 McCourtney Road southwest of Grass Valley, or mail your Application Form, you will need to bring or provide the following:

Proof of a current rabies vaccination with at least one year left until expiration.
Proof of spay or neuter as this will greatly reduce the cost of your license.

You do not need to bring your dog with you if you choose to come to the shelter.

We can issue one, two or three year licenses. The only requirement is that the dog have a rabies vaccination that will be good for the duration of the license.

For licensing fees, please refer to the Animal Control Fees section of our Website.
