These are the questions we're asked every day. If yours isn't here, try searching MyNevadaCounty.com! Just click the button at the left.

How do I find out what my building permit fees will be?
There are no set fees, it depends on the project. Be sure to bring your checkbook with you when you bring in your plans! We'll calculate the permit fees for you then.

How long is the permit / plan check process taking?
Plan check typically takes 5 to 6 weeks. If corrections to your plans are required, this will add to the time. call CDA at 265-1222 for current turnaround times.

What is the largest structure I can build without a permit?
200 square feet at the projected roof line. (But other factors, like setbacks from property lines and septic systems, may affect this.)

What other fees are applicable besides the Building Inspection fees?
You'll pay a Plan Check fee when you submit your documents. You'll also pay fees for Environmental Health, Roads, Schools, Parks & Recreation, and Fire (if you live in an area served by a Fire District).

How can I find out if my plans have been approved?
You will receive a card in the mail when your permit is ready, or if plan corrections are needed.

Can I find out what the Snow Load requirements are for my project?
Visit our online Interactive GIS service where you can look up your property and get the snow load, along with other property information.

How do I schedule an inspection?
ASK US when you should next stop your construction for inspection. Then call our 24-hour Hotline 265-7070 before 4:00 PM the day before the inspection is needed and record your request in our system.

What time will my inspector arrive?
To check on the estimated arrival time, call the Inspector at the number on your Permit between 7:30 and 8:15 AM.

When and where do you accept permit applications?
Monday thru Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM (effective September 5 2006).

Where are you located?
Eric W. Rood Administrative Center, 950 Maidu Ave, Nevada City.
