Statistics continue to show that a significant percentage of persons convicted of crimes such as robbery, burglary or theft were daily drug users or under the influence of an illegal drug at the time they committed the crime.
The Nevada County District Attorney conducts a two front war on drugs. First, arguing for stiff no-nonsense mandatory jail or prison sentence for the dealer. Second a comprehensive treatment or education program with jail time for the user who fails to participate or reform, i.e. Drug Court.
In the Nevada City Office, one deputy district attorney is assigned to the prosecution of drug dealers and drug offenders.
