The Nevada County Department of Environmental Health is the local implementing agency for a diverse range of state and local laws affecting the public health of the citizens and visitors of Nevada County. The water you drink, the food you eat, businesses where you buy gasoline or have your automobiles serviced and land that is developed are all within the scope of services provided by the department.

Hazardous Materials / Solid Waste
Inspection and permit issuance for above- and underground hazardous materials storage, regulation of hazardous materials storage and waste disposal, oversight of contaminated site (including abandoned mines, leaking fuel tanks, and lead) cleanup.

Septic permits, onsite soil evaluations, wastewater disposal resources, drinking water resources, and review of proposed land development.
