How to Register to Vote

To register to vote, just complete a Voter Registration form and mail it. It is pre-addressed and postage paid. The forms are available from 70 locations (click here) in Nevada County, including markets, city halls, post offices, chambers of commerce, libraries, state agencies (DMV, EDD), county offices, and the Elections Office at 950 Maidu Ave., Nevada City CA 95959. They are also available by calling the Elections Office at 265-1298, or toll-free from Lake of the Pines and Truckee within Nevada County at 1-888-395-1298.
    Military and Overseas Voter Registration
    Uniformed service members or US citizens outside the country should download, fill out and submit the Federal Post Card Application. (This link will download an Adobe Acrobat PDF file.)
Who Needs to Register

You must re-register to vote by completing a new Voter Registration form if you change your mailing address or residence address. You must also re-register if you change your name.

Who is Eligible to Register

Anyone who is a U.S. citizen, 18 years of age or older on or before the date of the election, and is not in prison or on parole for a felony conviction may register to vote.

Deadline to Register to Vote

A Voter Registration form must be completed, signed, dated and postmarked or delivered no later than 29 days before an election to receive a Voter Information Pamphlet, and other important election information.

Voters who register between 29 and 15 days before an election will not receive a Voter Information Pamphlet, but they will receive a postcard notifying them of their polling place.
