Exploring Nevada County: An Illustrated Guide to Local Landmarks and Historic Sites is an attractive and informative book published by the Nevada County Historical Landmarks Commission, with financial support from the Nevada County Library. The authoritative text, containing colorful, vivid descriptions of all of the officially recognized historic landmarks around Nevada County, is augmented by 170 photographs and 16 maps.

The unique publication is a revised and greatly expanded version of The Commission's CATALOG OF HISTORICAL LANDMARKS AND DEDICATED SITES from 1999 and should have lots of interest and appeal to both newcomers and oldtimers alike. The book's handy size allows it to conveniently fit in purses, backpacks, and glove compartments and the maps provide directions to each site.
Exploring Nevada County may be purchased at area bookstores and the Nevada City Chamber of Commerce. Proceeds will be used for Nevada County historical markers.
