PROCEDURES FOR THE REGISTRATION OF
NEVADA COUNTY HISTORICAL LANDMARKS

I. Additional application forms for registration of proposed Nevada County Historical Landmarks may be obtained by written request to the Nevada County Historical Landmarks Commission, P.O. Box 1014, Nevada City, CA 95959.

II. Fill out the form as completely as possible, including any additional information you feel may help to clarify the proposed project.  You are free to include information that is not specifically requested on the form.

III. Return completed form to the Nevada County Historical Landmarks Commission, P.O. Box 1014, Nevada City, CA 95959.

IV. Verification of the historical accuracy will be researched and approved (or disapproved) by the Nevada County Historical Landmarks Commission.

V. Upon approval, proposed historical landmarks will be presented to the Nevada County Board of Supervisors for official registration with the County of Nevada as a Local Point of Historical Interest. The Nevada County Historical Landmarks Commission will then record and list the approved historical landmarks in the Commission's records as a central data base for future historical research information for both public and private interests.

VI. California law requires the Nevada County Historical Landmarks Commission to notify the County Recorder within ninety (90) days after a property has been designated as historical. The County Recorder then must index the resolution, listing the Nevada County Historical Landmarks Commission as "grantor" and the current owner as the "grantee." This law has no effect upon the property title and is recorded for information purposes only.
