Purpose & Goals

The purpose of the Reserve Program is to augment the enforcement efforts of the department with a pool of trained and certified Reserve Deputy Sheriff’s. This group of dedicated men and women consist of people who have occupations outside of the Sheriff’s Office or may be retired from law enforcemnet but have the drive and desire to give something back to their community by assisting the Sheriff’s Office in a variety of law enforcement functions.

Services to Citizens

Some of the different areas where the Reserve Deputies are utilized are: patrol, boating enforcement, off road enforcement, court services, special enforcement team, investigations and court services. They also provide much needed additional personnel during special events such as the Nevada County Fair and during emergencies such as major wildfires.
