Administrative Services Division

Civil Unit

We will assist you in the service of all your civil process.

Chief Civil Deputy

The Civil Unit is responsible for receiving, processing for service, and completing proofs of service or not found returns for all processes submitted for service. The Sheriff, as a County Officer, is obligated to obey orders of the court of the State of California, and to serve process and notices delivered to him for service.

The Civil Unit is responsible for the following processes:

Small claims
Bank levies
Wage garnishments
Divorce proceedings
Restraining orders
Evictions
The taking of personal property from debtors
Conducting Sheriff’s sales to satisfy judgments, including the sale of real property.
