To jump start the productions of new public service announcements and to have a little fun, the County contracted with NCTV, our local public access station, for $2,500 to conduct a PSA development contest.
All three of our local high schools and the local ROP video production classes participated. The students developed a total of 26 new PSA’s utilizing the new Media Kit. Minimal cash prizes were awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place entries. The Board of Supervisors presented the students with a plaque of appreciation in open session after they viewed the top PSA’s.
- 3rd place: Colin Tooley and Dakota Fulmer on the building permit process.
- 2nd place: Camen Hodges on the County Library and
- 1st place: Cole Culler, Kyle Richardson and Jamison Simmons on the Citizen Alert Service.
The contest was very successful, PSA’s were great, and we will be repeating this annually.
