By statute, FFAs are organized and operated on a non-profit basis and are engaged in the following activities: recruiting, approving, and training foster parents, providing professional support to foster parents, and finding homes or other temporary or permanent placements for children who require more intensive care.

At SFF, there is no charge to adopt a child waiting in long-term foster care. Placement services include family recruitment, matching of children with families, home study preparation, and parent training classes.
Nevada County Foster Youth Services Nevada County Foster Youth Services provide students in out-of-home placements with the resources needed to achieve their maximum educational and vocational potential and well-being through a holistic, multidisciplinary, and collaborative approach. The Nevada County Foster Kinship Care Education Program offers quality education and support opportunities for caregivers of children and youth in foster care to learn how they can meet their children's educational, emotional, behavioral and developmental needs.
