Blastoff for Reading

This summer, read books, earn prizes, and come to out-of-this-world events at your library. Come to your closest branch between June 8 and July 26 (West County) or June 26-August 14 (Truckee) to pick up your Challenge Sheet and a free book!

Musical Mondays - Monday, June 10th from 10-11 am.  In partnership with InConcert Sierra, enjoy beautiful concerts by local bands.  This week it's Beaucoup Chapeaux.  All Ages.

Family Movie Afternoon - Monday, June 10th from 3:30-5:30 pm.  Muppets in Space.  All Ages.

SYRCL's Watershed Investigations - Tuesday, June 11th from 2-3 pm.  Calling young scientists:  Join Detective Drizzle in hands-on activities that explore the water cycle.  Get your hands wet!  Ages 5-10.

Bus Storytime* -  Friday, June 14th from 10-11 or 10:30-11:00 am.  In partnership with Gold Country Transit, come ride the bus!  We will make bus-based crafts and then board the bus for a 30 minute ride and sing songs and read books!  Ages 1-5.  *Must register in advance.

Wildlife Rehabilitation and Release - Saturday, June 15th from 2-3 pm.  Get up close and personal with rescued raptors.  We will learn how the Wildlife Rehabilitation and Release team is saving local injured and orphaned animals.  All Ages.

Musical Mondays - Monday, June 17th from 10-11 am.  In partnership with InConcert Sierra, enjoy beautiful concerts by local bands.  This week it's Sierra Society of Serious Saxophones.  All Ages.

aliensFamily Movie Afternoon - Monday, June 17th from 3:30-5:30 pm.  Space Jam.  All Ages.

Ukulele Camp for Kids* -  Wednesday, June 19th - Friday, June 21st from 10 - noon.  Join ukulele master Dan Scanlan and learn the basics in this three day "camp" in our outdoor Amphitheater.  The hour-long lesson will be capped off with a jam session.  Bring our own ukulele or borrow one of ours!  Ages 8-12.  *Registration is required for this class!  Sign up for the full three-day series.

Flying Things Art Party - Wednesday, June 26th from 2-4 pm.  Decorate the library with flying things.  We will have art supplies and lots of space on our ceiling to hang your creations for posterity.  All Ages.

Robot Playground - Wednesday, July 3rd from 2-3 pm.  We will have robots from the technology lending library out and ready to play.  Robots include Kibos, Spheros, and Dash and Dots.  Ages 5 and up.

Izzi Tooinsky - Wednesday, July 10th from 10-11 am.  The Wild Man is a juggler, clown, comedian, storyteller, and educator.  Join us for a wild show!  All Ages.

Baby Prom - Thursday, July 11th from 2-4 pm.  Come in your fancy finery, make corsages, take cute photos in our photobooth, and dance the afternoon away in the Community Room!  Ages 0-5.

Unicorn Party - Friday, July 12th from 10 - noon.  Get your unicorn on!  Unicorn crafts, unicorn storytime, and unicorn costume making in our outdoor Amphitheater.  All Ages.

Star Wheels with the Astronomy Club - Thursday, July 18th from 1-2 pm.  Discover the wonder of the night sky by making star wheels!  At night, you'll be able to find beautiful constellations.  Ages 5 and up.

Messy Art Party - Tuesday, July 23rd from 2-3 pm.  Get ready for splishes, splashes, and cool art in our outdoor Amphitheater!  make sure to wear clothes that can get messy.  All Ages.

Conservation Ambassadors - Thursday, July 25th from 1-2 pm.  Formerly known as Wild Things, featuring rescued amazing wild and exotic animals on stage!  All Ages.

Summer Reading Finale:  Traveling Lantern Theater Company - Saturday, July 27th from 10-noon.  Aquarius' mom is an astronaut and today is "Take your child to work day."  Her imagination blasts off and she dreams of incredible journeys through the cosmos!  Enjoy crafts and snacks before and after the 10:30 am show.  Drawing winners will be announced!  All Ages.

Space VesselPreschool Storytime - Every Tuesday from 10:30-11 am.  An energetic early literacy party with music, books, and more. Ages 3-5.

Sensory Storytime - Every Thursday from 11-noon.  A fun, structured storytime followed by sensory play. Ages 1-5
