Library System

The Nevada County Community Library system consists of six library branches and two service locations. Five of the branches have circulating collections and one houses the non-circulating historical reference collection. The Madelyn Helling Library is the main branch library housing administrative services.​​

Doris Foley Library

Doris Foley Library for Historical Research

The Doris Foley Library for Historical Research is a non-circulating branch of the Nevada County Library system.

Grass Valley Library - Royce Branch

The Grass Valley Library - Royce Branch is an historic Carnegie library listed in the National Register of Historic Places. It is located in the heart of downtown Grass Valley.

The Madelyn Helling Library is the main branch of the Nevada County Library system, located near the Eric Rood Government Center in Nevada City.
Penn Valley Library

Penn Valley Library

The Penn Valley Library is the newest branch of the Nevada County Library system and is located on Pleasant Valley Road across from the main entrance to Lake Wildwood.
Truckee Library

Truckee Library

The Truckee Library, located in Eastern Nevada County, is located near the Joseph Government Center and Tahoe Forest Hospital.

Service Location

Patrons may return Nevada County Community Library items to the book drop located at San Juan Ridge Community Library.

Nevada County Law Library

The Nevada County Law Library is the primary depository of legal reference materials for the County of Nevada.  It provides open access of these resources to all members of the community.  The Law Library is not affiliated with the Nevada County Libraries.  Their phone number is 530-362-5329.
