The Local Mental Health Board (LMHB) is comprised of consumers, family members and community members appointed by the Board of Supervisors to advise the Behavioral Health Department. The LMHB meets monthly with the Behavioral Health Director to provide advice, guidance and recommendations. The LMHB may discuss or review topics related to policy, procedures, target population, budget, staffing, program development, service needs, assessment and priorities. The LMHB may request presentations from programs or staff in specific areas of interest. An Annual Report from the LMHB is provided to the BOS highlighting progress and accomplishments.
Meetings are open to the public and fall within the Brown Act regulations.

The Vision of the Nevada County Mental Health Board is to promote and support policies and programs that effectively improve the lives of persons with mental illness and improve community understanding.
Members of the public interested in serving on the Local Mental Health Board may complete and submit an application. Attendance of at least two meetings is required before applying. The applicant must also meet with and receive approval from the Mental Health Board Chair and Behavioral Health Director.
