[ARCHIVED] Better Together: Housing First and Landlord Engagement Training, October 29th

The Nevada County Regional Continuum of Care (NCRCoC) is inviting the public to a half day training on Housing First and Landlord Engagement. The NCRCoC has partnered with two national expert organization,  the Corporation for Supportive Housing and HomeBase, to bring these engaging training's to our local community.

When: Tuesday, October 29th 8am-12pm

Where: The Grass Valley Veterans Memorial Building, 255 South Auburn Street. Grass Valley 95945

What: Housing First and Landlord Engagement training

Housing First

On the federal and state level, funding sources are requiring providers to utilize the Housing First approach to house homeless individuals and families. HomeBase will provide a detailed overview of the core components of the Housing First approach, both as a best practice and as a requirement under California law for state-funded programs. Attendees will participate in a facilitated, interactive discussion on community challenges to implementing Housing First, to strategize solutions for bringing both individual programs and the system of care into greater alignment with the Housing First approach

Landlord Engagement

To unlock housing resources for vulnerable clients, the continuum of housing providers has to do better at building relationships with landlords and property managers. Corporation for Supportive Housing (CSH)  has been working to collect local input and has years of experience advising and promoting supportive housing. CSH will introduce the major themes and outcomes of months of collecting information from local providers and landlords and will  introduces a "toolkit" for engaging and retaining local landlords. Once reviewed, attendees will participate in a facilitated community discussion of the major themes and determine the best approach to implement promising practices. CSH will also encourage leaders of the community to champion important components of the landlord engagement proposals to support accountability and recruitment efforts.
