Behavioral Health is hosting the next Stepping Up community meeting on February 19th at 10:30 a.m. in the Empire Room at the Eric Rood Administrative Building. The Stepping Up Initiative is a national initiative to reduce the number of people with mental illnesses in jails. In past community meetings, we have focused on outlining behavioral health services currently available throughout the various stages of the criminal justice system, as well as identifying gaps and needs.
The meeting will focus on reviewing some initial data points around the intersection of behavioral health and criminal justice based on recent analysis, as well as updates about Nevada County’s Proposition 47 grant which focuses on people experiencing homelessness who come into frequent contact with the justice system and could benefit from behavioral health services and supports. Stepping Up community meetings are most effective when there is a good representation from a broad sector of the community, so please help spread the word!
