Nevada County Vaccine Update: 100% of Vaccines Available in Nevada County Are Planned For

_PH COVID Vax NewsFlash (1)

Feb 15. Nevada County continues to vaccinate our community as soon as we receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

According to State data released Monday, February 15th, over 15,000 doses have been administered to Nevada County residents, and more vulnerable residents have access to make appointments as Nevada County.

Vaccines come into the county through several channels, including the Federal Pharmacy Partnership, a new direct pipeline through Rite Aid and CVS that launched Friday, February 12th, through Multi-County Entities such as Dignity Health, through Indian Health Services, and the Public Health channel. Most of the vaccine received and delivered in the County has come through the Public Health channel, through which we directly administer at clinics such as the newly launched Whispering Pines Clinic, and through a network of providers who work with their customers, as well as expand out through high throughput clinics.

In Nevada County, 100% of the vaccine on-hand is scheduled for already full appointments, mostly next week. Nevada County has more appointments scheduled next week than Public Health, or local providers have on-hand.

“It is important to note that vaccine ‘on-hand’ does not mean that it is sitting on shelves unused. Nevada County is a great community because of relationships and a spirit of collaboration,” said Nevada County Public Health Officer Dr. Scott Kellermann. “Through the extraordinary generosity of our partners like Dokimos, and the hard work and collaboration with healthcare leaders such as Public Health, Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital, and Tahoe Forest Hospital, we have increased the number of vaccine doses administered to Nevada County residents from 5,754 on January 29th, to 15,319 as of February 15th.”

COVID-19 vaccines doses are received on a rolling basis. When the State announces the number of doses available to Nevada County, Public Health immediately allocates them to local clinics and our provider network to schedule them for administration. The number of doses Nevada County has received reflects both first and second doses.

“Nearly 4,000 doses have been received just in the last two weeks,” said Nevada County Public Health Director Jill Blake. “As more and more of Nevada County’s disproportionately older population become eligible for the vaccine, we have expanded our capacity to ensure that we can continue scheduling vaccine out for delivery as soon as it is made available to us.”
